Faux Assemblage

While this work still falls withinin the general catagory that I call "abstract fusion", more specifically I refer to this series as "faux assemblage" paintings, or put more simply, imaginary constructions. The emphasis here is that the paintings are intended to feel like 3D constructs. They also showcase special effects like virtual "windows", floating or suspended shapes, virtual "neon" and other 3D elements. I also manipulate the custom outer shapes to strenghthen the illusion of 3D. All of these paintings are completed on one flat surface and the appearence of any actual depth in these compositions is an intended illusion.

All of these oils are painted on MDF (medium density fiberboard) and float frameless, with a recessed support system, 1" from the wall. They have painted 1/4" edges and durable gloss varnishes.
