When I completed my first painting in this series, "Woven", I realized that I had inadvertently stumbled onto an interesting format for my abstract oils. A woven pattern can create a wonderful visual balance among the elements being woven. Symbolically, the patterns can also be thought of as alluding to the basic balance of all things found in life and in the universe beyond.

The series emerged over a three year period, from 2007 to 2010. The paintings shown here are some of my favorites, approximately arranged from more recent to earlier. They are painted on MDF (medium density fiberboard) and float frameless, with a recessed support system, 1" from the wall.
